Beach Combing at Low Tide

Tuesday, June 25

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

                         

Join us for this free family event. Learn about the critters that you can see at low tide.

Story time begins at 10:00 a.m. and then it’s craft time! Trace a sea animal stencil, color, paint and sprinkle with sand and pebbles.

Next, depending on the tide, you’ll comb the beach at Old Mill Park to find out what lives there and how they fit into the web of life. All craft activities are yours to take home and use.

Volunteers will begin at 9:00a.m. to help set up and then tasks are assigned and the program begins at 10:00a.m. Pick up and put away begins at 12:15p.m. or so.

                        Directions to Clear Creek Sa’qad Interpretive Center:

Located at the mouth of Clear Creek in Silverdale, WA.

From Silverdale Way, travel east on Bucklin Hill Rd .5 miles, over Clear Creek.  Turn left onto Mickelberry Road and immediately left again into Mariner Square Office Park.  Travel through the parking lot to the stop sign.  Cross Levin Road into Creekside Office Park. Our Interpretive Center is located in the red barn at the western edge of this parking lot. You may park in this lot on weekends and after business hours. Weekdays, park at Old Mill Park across Bucklin Hill Road.  There is a crosswalk to the Clear Creek Trail Head and Interpretive Center.

 

              

 

 

 

                                             Discovery Play Days

 

Discovery Play Days is a free and educational activity for families with young children. Each of the sessions focuses on Wildlife, wetlands, bach life or birds of the Clear Creek Trail. The day begins at 10:00a.m. with storytime, self-guided activities, crafts in the Clear Creek Interpretive Center. A guided trail walk at 11:00a.m. may explore the wetlands, the beach or track for animal signs.

Families are invited to drop in for one or all of the day's activities. Dress for the weather and hiking. Bring a sack lunch if you like. there are tables inside and outside.
